It is unveiling the CROSSWAY Low Entry HYBRID in XTL version at the FIAA 2022 exhibition in Madrid, (Spain).
The jury panel of the Sustainable Bus of the Year Award is made up of seven representatives from major European magazines – Autobus (Italy), Mobilités Magazine (France), Omnibus News (Germany), Tranzit (Slovenia), Green Bus & Coach (UK), Infotrucker (Romania), Carril Bus (Spain). In awarding the title, the jurors have evaluated factors such as safety, comfort, noise levels, recyclability of components and the general sustainability commitment of the manufacturer, with a focus on sustainability principles and in particular the ability to establish a positive image of the vehicle with the public.
“With the ‘Sustainable Bus of the Year 2023’ award, we are reaffirming our ongoing commitment to developing innovative, mature, virtuous, and eco-responsible well-to-wheel transport solutions. By awarding the title for the third time to CROSSWAY, the jury has recognized the qualities of this range and confirmed the validity of the choice that many operators have already made in selecting this range for their fleets since its launch. It is with great pride that we receive this new recognition,” commented Domenico Nucera, IVECO BUS Bus Business Unit President during the award ceremony held at the Next Mobility Exhibition, in Milan, Italy.
As a major player in people transportation and a leader in alternative tractions, IVECO BUS has extended further its offer of effective solutions to support transport operators in the reduction of their carbon footprint.
Featuring hybrid technology developed in close collaboration with Voith, the CROSSWAY Low Entry hybrid is equipped with a 48V battery coupled to a Voith DIWA NXT gearbox and the proven Cursor 9 CNG engine. The DIWA NXT gearbox is combined with a powerful 35 kW peak electrical recovery motor, which acts as a starter and generator to recover the kinetic energy accumulated during the deceleration and braking phases, with a high-energy LTO battery (48 V) mounted on the roof. The electric motor supports the Cursor 9 CNG engine during the starting phases.
The CROSSWAY LE Hybrid also benefits from the recognized qualities of the CROSSWAY and offers equipment designed to enhance the well-being of passengers and drivers. It is fully compliant with anti-rollover standard R66.02 and front collision mitigation R29.03 tests A & B.
Available in Class I (12-m long) for city uses and Class II (12 & 13-m long) for suburban missions, the CROSSWAY Low Entry Hybrid CNG is the new alternative for Regions, Counties and Cities wishing to provide transport solutions which are fully compatible with energy transition projects. It delivers up to 15% fuel savings compared to the diesel version and a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 84% with renewable fuels.
